1, 2, 3 Thursday

Oh, Britney. She just keeps getting better. And how poetic is it that her (long overdue!) third song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart was the whimsical, sexy/slutty, relentlessly exhilarating throwaway single released to promote her second hits collection (appropriately entitled “The Singles Collection,” which you can purchase for a paltry $11.99 on Amazon!), the Max Martin-produced “3?” (An mp3 of the hot single is available for $1.29 on Amazon as well…I swear I don’t work for them or even get anything from hocking the Spears, I just love her so.)

I can’t wait to see the video (which apparently features the Princess of Pop performing new – and legit – choreography after her abundantly sensual if mildly disappointing dance-free video for “Radar”).

To tide us all over, I dedicate this post to the Ringmaster herself and her third #1; may there be many, many more to come.

Material Monday

Many many years ago, my dad imparted upon me a bit of wisdom I still hold true to this day. I won’t get into the awkward backstory of how this conversation came about, but the advice I received that stuck most was this: almost every time when considering depictions of the human figure, the most appealing and attractive element is something, even something tiny, left to the imagination.

In my extensive days of picture collecting, it has been an exceedingly rare occasion that I bother to save or even take much notice of those in which the men are entirely clothed (because really, I could just look out the window for that). I thought I’d share some of the extremely few exceptions.

Poll Results and Theme of the Upcoming New Genre Blog

You may have noticed the final results of last week’s poll, in which I asked you to choose the theme or focus of the next “genre blog” from Adonis Complex, which would join the first such spinoff project, Athletic Supporter, which launched last month. Out of the nearly ten possible responses, I found there to be two of them that stood well in front of the pack, although until just about the final count it wasn’t clear which of the two would end up coming out ahead, if one even did so.

As it turned out, though, a solid 42% said they’d most like to see the upcoming blog having as its focus the ever-subversive, Freudian, and just plain aesthetically pleasing focus of Men in Uniform.

And thus it shall be! Be sure to watch this page (as well as Athletic Supporter) for news on the imminent launch of the newest Adonis Complex blog to better fulfill your eye candy needs in these uncertain times. And just in time for Halloween, too; what better time to begin to enjoy the hunks who play dress-up?

A little taste of things to come…

Tattooed Tuesday

I used to not be a fan of tattoos. Of course, I also used to condemn smoking, alcohol, swearing, and the entire concept of female sexuality as well, so get out your grains of salt.

As with all of those other things, of course, I eventually changed my mind.

I mean, how could you not be even the slightest bit attracted to this one, is in my eye (to quote a certain art history teacher I had in high school) “a work of art ON a work of art.”

And if nothing else, look down at the top of the speedo in this picture of one of my two hugest celeb/athlete obsessions (I’m not admitting to the other one unless you guess it). First of all, yum. Secondly, how much I would have given to be that tattoo artist.

And hey, I even staged my own (silent, several years late, non-confrontational) rebellion over one hot Fourth of July weekend in Santa Barbara about five years ago, as you can see from this mortifying old shot which was nevertheless the most recent one I could find that shows my little permanent decoration. I may have one, but that doesn’t mean I’m at all ostentatious. (Notice that instead of elevating my visage alongside these professional heart-throbs,

(This was entirely unposed and spontaneous. No, really! What, you don’t believe I lie around in corn field with my belt buckle undone leaning backwards in a skin-tight black undershirt that just happens to be pulled up barely enough to reveal my tattoo?)

OK, now back to the real hunks. Actually, let’s see this one again (my favorite).

Oh yes. Me likey.

Friendship Fridays

I decided to give “Football Fridays” a bye week (partly because my supply of new material for that particular category is running low after well over six weeks of this blog, not to mention the new Athletic Supporter, my sports-themed partner photoblog launched publicly earlier this week. I felt a tribute to friendship was due in light of events from this past week which have brought friendship to the forefront of my mind.*

When I moved away at nine years of age from the city in which I was born, leaving behind a modest but solid few strong friendships that have remained in various degrees to this day, my best friend and I would write one another valiantly every month or so (this is pre-email…and I mean 1993 pre-email, thank you very much). Without fail, we would always end our letters with one of the rhyming verse endings from the old Ethel Merman/Cole Porter song “Friendship” (which I believe we knew because of a recreation by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy somewhere around our childhoods). Thanks to the glorious wonder that is Facebook, we were able to reconnect recently as she celebrates her recent engagement. My, how we’ve grown!

It’s friendship, friendship
Just a perfect blend-ship!
When other friendships have been forgot,
Our will still be hot!

"That’s…Cool" Thursdays

Happy Thursday! A few business notes to take care of, then off to cavort with the hunks. First: I extended the poll about themes people would like to see in my genre offshoot blogs as well as here (located in the menu to the right), so go ahead and put in your thoughts! I have no idea if it lets you vote again if you already have, but I say go for it…your passion deserves the extra votes.

Second, I know I hinted to my Facebook fans anyway that yesterday would be particularly exciting, and wanted to let you know that the delay came from me deciding it’s better to be safe than sorry, and contacted a certain proprietor of some images I planned on using to try and get the all clear. You’ll know if and when that’s gone through, as the post planned is, well, eye catchingly out of the ordinary around here, at least. Hopefully you’ll get to enjoy that soon.

Third, speaking of Facebook fans, I send out nice, inobtrusive little reminders about posts through that channel, and I’d love to be able to include the clearly thousands more folks who have stopped by than the 55 of the loyal and true (but, as always, hooray for those 55!) I promise I won’t embarrass you or do anything to get you in trouble…and if you don’t believe me you can always hide updates to make them private, of course! Anyway, I’d love to have you on as a fan if that is what you are, so do join if you would possibly!

And finally, I really don’t like to ask this because you are all welcome to hang out here and look at six-packs and pecs and skin and…etc as long and as often as you like, no strings attached! However, if whenever you’re here you literally just click on an ad or two, it would make a huge difference for my earnings, which I at the very least had hoped to become enough to keep at least the blog alive. Tell you what…if I notice after today a notable positive change in my ad clicks and so forth for a reasonable enough period to know that it’s because you’re really helping me (gasp! sniff!), I’ll show my gratitude with…uh…I don’t know, double-sized posts for a whole month, or something.

Last thing from me and you can enjoy the men in silence as usual…so to ostensibly prove I’m not kidding about doing a double post month for y’all if my silly challenge happens to go over well, I thought I’d pick the most mundane and obscure of common traits to make a theme for today’s post, so I picked brick, because it’s, well, brick. But to my (continued) amazement, I have a heck of a lot of these pictures; let’s just say what I’ve put up here today is barely half of the total of options. So go me…you scratch my back a little, I can scratch yours however you want it.

So click ads, enjoy the men, and have a great Thursday!
